Erase a Word

by Dianne B
(Kearny, NJ)

We use this game often and it is effective.

We write the Bible verse on a chalk/white board. We read the verse together a couple of times. You could also have all the boys read, all the girls, etc. We then let a child pick a word to erase. We then repeat the entire verse together. Then erase another word. By the time the complete verse is erased, we have said the verse many, many times. If it is a long verse, we will erase all of the words that are repeated in the verse. We don't do that if it is short. I recommend leaving the reference until later in the repetition.
