More Behavior Award Games

Here are some more behavior award games or quiet seat prizes that we've used in our children's church ministry:

Sucker Tree

I bought one of those styrofoam cones from the craft department and stuck little Dum Dum suckers into it. However, before doing so, I first colored the ends of a few sucker sticks with a blue magic marker. The three winners of our behavior award game get to choose and keep a sucker regardless; but if any of them select a "marked" sucker, that student also receives an additional prize.

Quiet Seat Prize

I'm sure that this idea isn't new to any children's church ministry worker. You simply award a prize to the student(s) who behave the best and participate throughout children's church. However, you may be surprised to learn that most children are much more impressed by some prizes that are actually cheaper than the dollar store *junk* that we often purchase. Some of our most successful prizes have been...

  • a photo of us
  • the visuals from our lesson (that we no longer care to keep)
  • other "retired" children's church items such as bulletin board components, old puppets, song visuals...
  • privileges such as being teacher's helper, choosing the songs, disassembling the review game, etc.
