After studying a medium length verse for a brief time, sit children in a circle. Using a stop watch, time how long it takes the children to say the verse(with the reference) one word per child. The idea is to beat your time each time you try. After several rounds, start with a different child so the children are not saying the same word each time. If you have a real large group, you can have two different circles and determine which group can repeat the verse the quickest. Children love beating their previous speeds even by one second!
