Two Places

The Lord has created two places outside of this universe:

  • Heaven

John 14:1-3 -- "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

  • Hell

Matthew 25:41 -- "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"

As you can see from the Word of God, one of those two places was prepared for Satan and his accomplices; and (praise the Lord!) the other place is available to all of us humans!

Although the obvious better of the two places is available to us... it is completely our decision and responsibility to accept and receive it. I have laid out a fine feast for my husband's supper tonight, but if he does not elect to receive it and consume it, it will not be his. However, it is completely available to him; and if he chooses to accept it, there is no doubt that he will enjoy it thoroughly.

Likewise, Heaven is a marvelous place... too wonderful for us to comprehend in our finite minds. It is ours for the taking, but the Bible clearly instructs us that much of mankind will reject God's Gift to us and spend eternity in a horrible place that was created for the devil and his angels.

What is this gift, and how does one accept it?

Romans 6:23 -- "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

How much does a gift cost to its recipient? Not a single penny; it simply must be received. However, in this case, the cost of this free Gift was very great on the part of the Giver -- it cost Him His life.

Please don't miss the first part of the verse: "For the wages of sin is death..." Do not be mistaken, my friend. You do not deserve Heaven, and neither do I. We do not belong in the presence of an Almighty Holy God, dressed in the filth of this sinful flesh.

Romans 3:10 & 23 -- "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one... For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

From the very first incident of sinful unbelief in the Garden of Eden, all of mankind has inherited that sin nature. All but One, Who was not born of an earthly father, but a heavenly...

John 3:16 -- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

He did the work and paid our wages of sin. We must simply believe and receive.

"Romans 10:9 & 13" -- "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved... For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Place your faith in Jesus Christ and His completed work at Calvary, and you can be assured of eternity in the better of those two places!
